Ghassab Al-Mandeel
The story
Ghassab Al-Mandeel studied computer science at King Saud University and spent years in public sector technology and emergency services, including integration work at Saudi Telecom and a stint as CEO of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority from 2012 to 2014. In 2014 he and three partners started Alamat, building mapping and tracking technology for businesses, and landed Aramco as a client, but could not sell the product at scale. They decided to use the technology themselves and built an on-demand platform, choosing food because they saw it as the hardest service to deliver quickly. Founded in 2016, Jahez became the first homegrown Saudi early stage startup to list on the Saudi Exchange in January 2022, with a market capitalisation of $2.4 billion, and moved to the Main Market in December 2024.
