In their own words
“I think during the pandemic, the e-commerce and the digital products and services helped a lot of people to survive, to send a reward and gifts, to help people educate their child and help us to deliver food and even medicine or health (services).”
The story
Hatem Kameli studied computer science at King AbdulAziz University, graduating in 2007. In November 2013 he founded iCLICK, a digital marketing consultancy, and ran it as CEO until December 2017. He also co-founded Lucidya, an AI customer-experience platform, and sits on its board. Resal, which he co-founded and leads as CEO, started out as a digital gifting platform. The company dates its launch to 2018, although Arab News reported a soft launch in Jeddah in September 2016 and operations from February 2017. During the pandemic, Arab News reported, Resal's sales in 2020 rose 1,500% on the previous year. In 2021 and 2022 the company pivoted to become an all-in-one software business for prepaid digital gift cards and rewards, and it now describes its offering as digital value delivered through prepaid cards, rewards and loyalty programmes. In 2024 Resal raised a $9 million funding round.
