InstaDeep was started in Tunisia in 2014 with two laptops and $2,000 and bootstrapped until 2018. It worked with BioNTech from 2019, including on an early warning system for high-risk COVID-19 variants. BioNTech agreed to buy it in January 2023 for up to £562 million (about $682 million), completing in July 2023.
