The story
Daniel Alimov is the co-founder and CEO of Retailhub, the Dubai-based company bringing AI to grocery retail. Retailhub helps retailers, FMCG brands and aggregators fix product availability and out-of-stock problems, a $1 trillion-a-year drain on the industry. It works in partnership with Talabat, the region's largest delivery platform and part of the Delivery Hero group, and is scaling fast across the GCC.
Already operating in five markets, the platform processes hundreds of thousands of shelf images a day. In live stores the impact shows within months: orders with out-of-stock items drop two to three times while active online assortment grows. Retailhub is backed by Oraseya Capital, 21 Ventures, the former CEOs of Talabat and Majid Al Futtaim Carrefour, Hub71, Google AI and others.
Daniel is a serial founder with an exit behind him. In Kazan he built Dostavushka, a grocery delivery service, into the city's number-one e-grocery player within five months, then sold it to X5 Group, the retailer behind Pyaterochka and Perekrestok. He joined X5 as head of new business development to roll grocery delivery out nationally, a business that now processes around $1.5 billion in annual GMV. He moved to the UAE in 2021 and built Retailhub to solve the problems he faced daily at Dostavushka and X5.
He trained in law, with a bachelor's degree from the University of London and a master's in international law, and was head of legal at a major infrastructure engineering firm by 22.
