The story

Tomaso Rodriguez studied management engineering at the University of Padova and took an MBA at the Collège des Ingénieurs. He founded and ran Agencymanagement, a digital consumer engagement platform later acquired by Philip Morris International, then worked as a venture capital associate at 360 Capital Partners. At Uber from 2013 he held roles including head of Uber Eats regional operations for Asia Pacific, and in 2018 he became head of GrabFood. He joined talabat as chief executive in 2019 and over six years grew the business more than ninefold, leading its $2 billion listing on the Dubai Financial Market in December 2024, which valued it at about $10.1 billion and was the largest global technology IPO of that year. He stepped down in November 2025. In 2026 he was appointed chief executive of CargoX, a UAE autonomous delivery platform covering last-mile, middle-mile and long-haul routes, as it raised $250 million in a round led by BlueFive Capital. CargoX has run pilots on public roads in the UAE and is preparing commercial services in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
