The story
Hamad Mubarak Al Hajri developed the idea for Snoonu as a capstone project at HEC Paris, and after it won an award at the school he decided to build it. An early attempt to buy a ready-made delivery app from a development company in India cost about QAR 100,000; when the supplier stopped responding, he flew to Delhi and found the office empty. A second, cheaper team also failed to deliver, so he brought technology in-house. Snoonu launched in Doha in 2019 as a restaurant delivery service. In April 2022 a funding round collapsed, leaving liabilities he put at close to QAR 40 million. According to the Founding MENA short, staff took pay cuts of up to 50% and months later he suffered a stroke. Snoonu survived, expanded into groceries, pharmacy and courier services, and reached QAR 511 million in revenue in 2024. In 2025 Jahez Group bought 76.56% for $245 million while Al Hajri kept 23.44% and stayed as CEO.
